On-the-Job Training is a structured, supervised, performance-evaluated apprenticeship inside real industry firms - embedded as MBA credits, not bolted on at the end. It is the single most distinctive piece of every NorthBridge Minds MBA. Students are not visitors on a two-month internship; they are first-year analysts with a defined role brief, dual mentorship, monthly reviews, a capstone to a hiring panel, and a stipend throughout.
A normal MBA internship is two months of shadowing at the end of the course. OJT is roughly nine months of real desk work woven into the degree itself - with a role brief, two named mentors, monthly performance ratings, and a stipend. It runs across Finance & Capital Markets, Global Business & Trade, and AI & Business Transformation.
OJT months are credits inside the MBA, assessed and graded under the NEP 2020 framework - not an unpaid intern slot tacked on at the end of the course.
One mentor inside the firm owns day-to-day work and monthly ratings; one faculty supervisor on campus tracks learning logs and academic credit. Bi-weekly check-ins keep both sides aligned.
OJT ends with a live capstone presented to a panel of industry hiring managers. Most students convert the work into a pre-placement offer at the firm where they trained - the route we track on our placements page.
The difference is not cosmetic. On every axis that decides whether a graduate is job-ready - duration, role, supervision, pay, and outcome - OJT is built to a higher standard than a summer internship. This is why every 2026 admission includes a real OJT seat.
A typical internship is a two-month summer block. OJT runs for roughly nine months of continuous desk work, long enough to own real deliverables and earn trust.
Not shadowing. Students join with a documented role brief and ship real deliverables - research, models, filings, dashboards - on a live desk.
An industry mentor plus a faculty supervisor, bi-weekly check-ins, monthly performance ratings, and structured learning logs - versus an internship's single end report.
The host firm pays students directly per Minimum Wages Act norms or higher, throughout the OJT - not the unpaid or token internship norm.
OJT ends with a capstone to a hiring panel and, for most students, a pre-placement offer at the same firm - an outcome an internship rarely produces.
OJT is graded and counted as MBA credit under NEP 2020. An internship is usually extracurricular. See how it maps in our NEP 2020 alignment.
OJT is phased, not improvised. Each student moves through onboarding, live desk work, monthly reviews, and a final capstone - the same disciplined arc across all three flagship MBAs. Universities can read the operating model on our for universities page.
Where a student trains depends on their MBA. Finance students sit inside broking firms, AMCs and investment banks via the Finance & Capital Markets track; trade students with exporters, logistics firms and customs teams via Global Business & Trade; and AI students on live projects via AI & Business Transformation. Each carries a ₹25,000-50,000 monthly OJT stipend.
Equity dealing desks, fund analysis, research support, IB analyst work, and treasury & risk operations inside brokerages, asset managers, fintechs and investment banks.
Export-import operations, customs and FEMA documentation, trade finance, and logistics coordination inside exporters, logistics firms and trade bodies.
Live AI projects, analytics, and digital-transformation work inside data, product and transformation teams - shipping models and dashboards on real problems.
